Our international team is an assembly of experienced and award-winning multimedia journalists, documentary filmmakers, academics, lawyers, and war crimes researchers who have worked in Syria, Chechnya, Rwanda, and Bosnia. We have all come together with a common mission: to eradicate impunity and fight for justice.

Ibrahim Olabi is a barrister with specialized international law knowledge and experience, with a focus on the Middle East. He works both on international legal cases and lobbying, as well as advocating on policy matters linked to the region.

He served as an adviser to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights at the United Nations International Bar Association.

Kareem Asfari

Legal Analyst

Kareem Asfari holds an LLM in international law from SOAS, an MPhil in English Studies from the University of Cambridge, and a Graduate Diploma in Law from City, University of London.

He has worked as a researcher at the Syrian Legal Development Programme and Guernica 37, focusing on sanctions, impunity, and accountability for rights abuses.

Tsvetelina Van Benthem

Senior Legal Advisor

Tsvetelina is a DPhil candidate in public international law at Merton College. Tsvetelina is a research assistant at the Oxford Institute for Ethics, Law and Armed Conflict and a co-convenor of the Public International Law Discussion Group. She holds law degrees from Sofia University 'St Kliment Ohridski' (LL.M) and the University of Oxford (MJur, Dist; MPhil).

Jack Sproson, a member of the Bar of England and Wales and G37 Chambers, specializes in Public/Private International Law, Human Rights Law, Humanitarian Law, and International Criminal Law.

With extensive experience representing clients before various international courts and tribunals, he also engages in humanitarian advocacy and capacity building.

The Reckoning Project has enlisted a team of experienced Ukrainian researchers and journalists. They've received training in legal literacy and fact-gathering processes that adhere to international legal standards. These researchers have also received sensitivity and trauma training to protect both themselves and the individuals from whom they will be collecting the testimonies. Testimonies collected are done so in accordance with the Berkeley Protocol, as well as the Do No Harm Principles.
